This majestic structure, with over two thousand years of history in its stones, is a reminder that this site was the entrance point for Greek and Roman civilizations onto the Iberian Peninsula. At the other end of the beach, one finds the beautiful Sant Martí d’Empúries hamlet, surrounded by medieval walls, which has been continuously inhabited for over 2,600 years. It is well worth a visit, as is the Archaeology Museum of Catalunya-Empúries , which is close by. A walk along the coastal dunes and the promenade, the Passeig Marítim d’Empúries .
