The Alfoli is one of l'Escala's most emblematic buildings.
The Alfoli is one of l'Escala's most emblematic buildings. As suggested by its name of Arab origin, al-hory. It used to be an old salt trade centre although it was used for several other purposes since its renovation during the second half of the 17th century. It was used as a store, and redistribution and control point for the merchandise that arrived by sea (salt, cereal and other products) and exported produce (salted fish and wine).
