Description

Harder than it may seem, this route draws closer to Fluvià, but instead of going towards the estuary, it follows the river course inland. Once at Vila-Robau small municipality, it turns back towards Ventalló mountain range and, once on flat terrain, it travels across Viladamat and Cinc Claus.

The first part of the trail is easy. So, save your stamina for the final stretch, with much loose rock ground, and steep ascents and descents, for some authentic mountain biking. Your efforts will be rewarded by beautiful views over Empordà. Up to the Fluvià river, the route is the same as Route Fluvià

0,00 Sant Martí d’Empúries

7,46 Fluvià River. Turn left, towards l’Arbre Sec.

9,08 Straight towards l’Arbre Sec.

10,63 Follow the right side path, without leaving the river side.

11,08 Go under the flyover whilst staying on the main track

11,71 Join the road to the right towards Vallveralla.

13,30 Go past a gravel quarry and follow the path on the right, toward Vilarobau.

13,93 The road bifurcates. Take the right fork.

14,07 On the right you will see a lane that goes into the forest. If you follow it, you will find the remains of an old abandoned mill by a gully, and a large cylindrical silo. (Optional diversion) Follow the main track.

14,77 You have completed a slight descent and facing you is Vila-Robau tiny village. Cross descending further along Carrer dels Masos towards Carrer del ig. Then right on Carrer Sant Genís

15,04 Stay on this street and at the stop sign, take left from the main road.

16,80 (Mind the traffic) This country lane will lead you to Ventalló. Cross the village via Reravalls and Mar Streets. To leave the centre behind, take the path that goes past a big white house.

17,84 Come onto l'Escala road. Cross it with caution and follow the path that lies ahead of you.

17,96 Turn right, along a rocky lane.

18,21 Turn left. Long ascent, bad road

19,55 Overcome some fallen trees and come to a T junction. To the left. (beware of the descent, there are many loose rocks.)

19,80 Mind! Turn onto the right hand side lane.

20,40 Overcome some fallen trees and then turn right.

20,60 On the left hand side you will find a short lane leading to a main track. Take it. Descent.

21,05 Cycle through Palauborrell. Down.

21,24 To the right and immediately to the left, always following the red and white GR marks.

22,85 Pass under the flyover.

23,50 You will come to a road. Cross it and continue straight following the GR marks. Viladamat. Cross the village along Carrer de la Creu, the Plaça Catalunya and Carrer d’Albons.

24,41 Turn left, towards l’Escala

24,62 Turn the right.

25,02 Straight. Further on you will find two more by roads; keep going straight.
