We can get to the beach of Portitxol walking from the promenade of Empúries, where it meets the access to the
Archaeology Museum of Catalunya-Empúries, which was also the gateway to the Iberian Peninsula for the cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome. The setting of this beach is spectacular. On the right, there are some wooden steps which are well worth climbing to enjoy the view from the lookout point over the Bay of Roses, the coastline of Empúries and the town of l’Escala. When climbing, you will see the Arch of Portitxol, a curious rock formation that is very popular. Behind is the historic , the setting of countless advertisements and even films, such as Hostal d’Empúries , by Menú degustació Roger Gual.
