Starting Point: Parking Restaurant El Molí de l'Escala. Route: Circular. Distance: 6km. Time: 3 hours. Difficulty: Easy
Set out from Molí de l’Escala restaurant parking lot and head Northwest for the Les Corts farmhouses. Past the Mill sluice gate, on the left are some remains of Sant Vicenç de Les Corts Romanesque hermitage. Stay along this track and as you walk between the two fortified farmhouses gaze at their towers. Look for Mas Torreportes to take a right turn to start a short climb over the hill. This will lead towards the Tourism office at the northern entrance to l’Escala . Walk a few metres to the right to find the narrowest spot to cross the main road.
Once on the other side, the track heads North-East. You will soon see Santa Magdalena’s ruins on your left side. Walk up to pass by Mas Sastruc, keep going all the while on a straight line heading North-East along Camí Vell a les Corts. As you reach la Coma (Hill), you will see the fence circling the Archaeology Museum of Catalunya-Empúries site . Follow along this fence towards Sant Martí d’Empúries hamlet, whose church and rooftops will be now in sight. Look for the 260 year old listed pine tree Pinus Pinea. Before you reach Sant Martí d’Empúries, and without entering the village, step onto Passeig d’Empúries and turn right towards l’Escala. This stretch involves a good long walk (around 2.5 km long), passing in front of a string of beaches, namely Moll Grec , les Muscleres , Portitxol and the beach of Rec del Molí until you come to the bridge, Pont del Rec, at the end of Passeig d’Empúries. At this point turn right along avenue Avinguda Francesc Macià. Keep going straight and look for the small house Ca l’Ase on the right hand side. Keep going until you see a left turning with the sign Vivers Moner by a tree on the left side of the road. Walk into that entry way and you will pass by a garden centre until you come out at the main road. Please take care when you cross it, walk over to join the continuation of the track and keep going. Take first left and you will be back at the El Molí de l’Escala restaurant parking lot.

Other points
Les Corts farmhouses consist of Molí de Sant Vicenç (18th Cent.) and the fortified farmhouses Mas Feliu (Can Baix) and Mas Torreportes (Can Noguera), both with circular defence towers. Beside the Mill, there are the remains of Sant Vicenç Romanesque church , where the main road, the Camí d’Empúries, passed. Regarding Santa Magdalena’s church (6th-10th Cents.), we can see it is preRomanesque, very similar to that of Santa Creu de Rodes (both formerly belonged to the Bishop of Empúries). Standing by Mas Sastruc, we can enjoy a spectacular view of the Empordà coastal plain and the Pyrenees in the distance. One part of this route runs along Passeig d’Empúries (Empúries Promenade), which was inaugurated in 1992 as part of the Barcelona '92 Olympic Games , to welcome the arrival of the Olympic flame.
