L´Escala accessible

L’Escala aims to be a destination with resources for everyone and the town boasts the only Catalan sailing club which is totally adapted for the disabled. We also offer the “Sailing for All” activities, which have been designed to offer disabled people the opportunity to sail. Besides this activity, L’Escala offers other possibilities which are adapted to the needs of everyone.
- The centre is totally adapted, with access ramps and changing rooms; ramps are still pending construction in the shower area.
- Instructors and staff specialised in helping disabled people.
- Data is required in the confidential registration document regarding illnesses or disabilities - this enables us to provide better attention and service.
- Special boats which are suitable for disabled people or people of any age.
- 2 special boats (6 people)
- 1 Access boat (2 people)
Activities:
- “Sailing For All” Courses: these are courses which promote the group integration of disabled people. The courses take place in June, July, and August and during the first fortnight of September.
- Technical Courses: a training centre for disabled people with experience in the sailing world. These activities can be undertaken provided that the groups are accompanied by their own trainers and volunteers. These courses are held from September onwards on dates which are still to be specified.
A walk along the seafront promenade is, on its most interesting stretches, an activity which is open to everyone. On one side of the promenade linking Riells with the old centre of L´Escala, there is a bicycle lane, which makes wheelchair access possible; the walkway linking L´Escala with Sant Martí d´Empúries (GR-92) is also totally adapted for wheelchairs; it is 2.5 km long and runs parallel to the beaches of Empúries.
